The EASE Canvas: Creating a Neuroinclusive Workplace
Creating a Neuroinclusive Environment
Did you know that 70% of UK businesses don’t have a clear neuroinclusion strategy?
While awareness training is common, few organisations bring this into everyday practice. Many organisations want to be ‘neuroinclusive’, but struggle to know how to genuinely cater for everyone in their team AND still be effective and productive. But failure to act can lead to frustration, misunderstandings and a dip in team morale.
The EASE Framework is a simple, practical tool that you can use to help you create a more inclusive environment. Whether you want to find ways of reducing friction in your own life, or want to impliment neuroinclusive strategies that benefit everyone in your team, the EASE canvas can help to guide you.

Your EASE Canvas
Regardless of neurotype, many everyday tasks will carry a level of friction for individuals, often leading to frustration, bottlenecks, errors etc. The good news is that these everyday tasks can be made far more manageable for everyone with the right strategies.
The EASE Canvas is based on four effective strategies:
- Externalise – relying less on working memory and mental processing by developing ways to log and process information externally. Less being held internally means less stress and more capacity for the task at hand.
- Anchor – understanding stress points such as ambiguity or sensory overwhelm and finding ways to boost regulation. More stress means less energy for the task.
- Simplify – reducing steps and/or over-complications to tasks and activities. Breaking things down into smaller steps, automation and keeping information in 1 place can help reduce confusion and reduce friction.
- Energise – boosting energy and enjoyment in tasks and activities. When people find the task energising they engage with it more enthusiastically.
The EASE Canvas provides space to reflect on where tasks might be causing friction and consider ways of changing it to better suit a neurodivergent (or neurotypical) brain.
